How to Get from Tirana Airport to City Centre

In short: Tirana Airport (TIA) is 18 km from the city. Rinas Express bus: 400 lek/€4, every hour 24/7, 30–40 minutes to near Skanderbeg Square. Official AHA taxi: €22 fixed. No Uber in Albania.

Your Options

Rinas Express (Luna/LU-NA): Best value. Every hour on the hour, 24/7 (1am, 2am… through midnight). 400 lek/€4, cash or card. Depart from parking bays 9 and 10 outside arrivals (exit and turn left). Drop-off: behind the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet, close to Skanderbeg Square. The bus timetable is literally hourly on the hour.

Official taxi (AHA): Yellow taxis with airport logo, fixed €22/2200 lek to city centre. 20–25 minutes. Pre-book at tiataxi.al. Authorised taxis can’t enter the terminal — walk ~5 minutes to the taxi rank.

Ride apps: No Uber. Speed Taxi, Merr Taxi, City Taxi, Green Taxi operate via WhatsApp/app at comparable prices.

Railway (future): A Tirana–Durrës–Airport railway is under construction with EU funding. No confirmed opening date as of June 2026.

Honest Caveat

Bus is ideal for solo travellers. For families with luggage or late-night arrivals, taxi is worth the €18 premium. Bus drops near Skanderbeg Square — not your hotel door.
